Op pagina 108 van ‘My Life full of Cars’ beschrijft Paul Frère de Targa Florio:

Officiel practise took place only on Saturday morning before the race, but most teams were on the spot long before to practise on the 72km circuit on unguarded roads. For practising Ferrari had a terrible, four-year old Monza and… a hire Fiat 1100! Before taking the Dino round for one lap on the Saturday before the race, I had done about 15 laps at the wheel of the 1100 and with the Monza, with which I went off the road twice, though with little damage. I was still at the stage where I was almost sure the next corner could be taken ‘flat’, but not quite sure and brave enough to do it, only to find I had things mixed up and was in trouble.
